I just can't visualize this, and I have drawn it out...

I want to quilt simple lines on my border, from the inside to the outside, but how do I do this without ending up with a "U" shape on the back? When I draw it out I am going - up, over, down, over, up.. do I the SID around the entire inner border to close the gaps...wow, this seems so simple and I just can't picture it..help

can you do one vertical line - move needle over and do next line without the 'over' part? If you want top & bottom horiz. lines do these separately after all verticals are done?

Is that how it's done, one line individually? That would be alot of threads to bury, do you work in one direction to avoid bunching?

Another idea... If I wanted to avoid the "u" shape, I'd stitch straight in from the edge, then either follow my stitching back out, or, move over just a stitch or two at the inside and echo my line back out off the edge. That would put all the "u" stitching off the edge of the quilt.

Are you talking about a piano key border style but without the keys, just border? I think they call that pattern of quilting beadboard? Anyhow on the outside edge you can stitch beyond the quilt edge to go to the next line BUT I have never found a way to go from one line to the next on the inner border without having to resew some lines. Maybe someone else can tell you how they manage it.

Well it totally makes sense that it's called beadboard...that's exactly what it looks like. LOL
