I especially like YLI for hand quilting, but I also use Gütermann or Coats.

I use Aurifil for hand piecing. For hand quilting I have both the YLI and the Gutermann. You can really feel the difference between a hand quilting thread and regular threads.

I belong to a hand quilting bee and we have used Coats and Clark and Gutterman hand quilting thread. I bought Coats & Clark for my quilt that we are doing now and it is working fine.
