Brother 420PRW and Janome 6600/7700

Hi Everyone,

I have been quilting on a Brother 420PRW for a few years now. I like it, but I have been wondering if there is something better out there for me. Today I went and tested a Janome 6600. It did feel a bit smoother when I used it, and the stitches seemed to look a little better for me on the back of my quilting. I am just trying to decide as to whether or not I need to spend the $1500 to get this machine or if what I am using is good enough. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Is there going to be a bigger difference on the way it "feels" to use the Janome vs. my brother? I have also looked at the getting the 7700 for the larger throat space. I was also wondering if people notice a huge difference with the extra couple of inches when using larger quilts.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have the Brother 420 and a 1500 for the larger throat.

I bought the 6600 mainly for the bigger throat space. I have no clue if 2 more inches is necessary or not with the 7700 although you get more with that machine than the 6600, like more stitches, etc. If you like your machines now I would keep them till they give up and then go for something else. I do love my 6600.

I also have the 7700 and agree it is a pretty machine and does lots of stuff. Want to know the real buy? The Juki F-600. It has everything the other machines have at a better price and a stronger motor - or should say better piercing power. The throat space is not the extended one, but everything else is superior.
