Just wondering if any others have the Brother SE 270 D. I got one for Christmas this past year. I'd been wanting one for a long time.
i haven't used it much, though.
Seems like every time I start to work with it, one of the kids does something or the phone rings or ...you get the idea.

Do you have cards for yours or the PED Basic Embroidery software that you download embroidery designs from your computer and put onto a blank card via the USB?
I think I'd like to have the PED software. I found it online for $129.73 w/ .75 shipping at Wal-Mart.com. That is the cheapest I've found it so far.

Well, just wanting to talk to someone else who has the machine and see what all you've done with yours.

I have that machine and I have the PED basic. I got mine for my birthday in Oct, and I've used it a pretty good bit.
I'm still learning the different things it can do.
The best thing is to have several thread cassettes, so you can change thread quicker.

I don't have one, have toyed with the idea to get one. But I want more info. When you get all the quirks worked out please let me know what you think of it. Do you have to buy alot of softwear to use it? What comes with it? Should I even consider going in that direction if theres alot of time involved, as far as setting it up, and getting creative?

PS LOVE THOSE PUPPIES

Shelby~That is awesome that you have the PED. I would say the extra thread cassettes would be handy! I love how you just push a button and it cuts the top and bottom threads right there. You just have to take out your project! Like magic!!!!
Where do you download most of your software from? Can you buy the cd's and use those? I'm sure you can, but just wondering.

So far, I love mine. I suggest you get online and look at and compare this machine and similar ones. I think it is the best deal for the money. Wal-Mart.com has them. You can go to www.brother.com and see the machine and all its features. Just go there and search on SE 270 D
oh, what am I saying? Just get it! You'll love it! You don't have to buy any software to use it. It comes with built in stitches and designs. you can buy cards for it for different embroidery designs, or you can get the PED and download what you want onto the card. Embroidery designs that come built in are Disney (Mickey)...that is what it is...brother SE 270 D(Disney). I hope you find this site helpful. It tells all about the machine, what it can do, what it comes with...etc.

HTH!!
my puppies will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. they are pom/chihuahua/terrier mix! they are so sweet! the mommy is my little dog. she will be 7 yrs old next month. she is black! this makes the second time she has had 3 diff. puppies, 3 diff colors. one didn't make it this time. we lost the little black one that looked just like mommy.

AND...the only things you will need to buy are some stableizer for the back of your fabric to do the embroidery on and some machine embroidery thread in colors to match the designs you want to do.

Thanks so much, I will put it on my list to get, very soon. Those puppies are so precious, Sorry about the litle black one. I have 2 brother machines. I've had one for 10 yrs and upgraded to the CS6000, and I love them both. No you can't beat them for the money. I find Brother machines to be really good work horses. They should advertise more, because they really aren't expensive, and perform so well.

I bought my first sewing machine in 2001, I think. It is a BROTHER LS 1520. It was around $97. I love it. I just wanted to upgrade to the embroidery and all the extra stitches, plus you can always get some new designs when you get tired of the others. I think I will have it forever, since I can upgrade it! :) I still have my LS 1520, and I'm keeping it!
My dad got my mom a a new brother for c-mas 2005. It is pretty much the same machine as my LS 1520, but it is slightly different. It has a few more stitches on it and is a little bit of a different color. It was around $75! I paid about $25 more for less functions a few years ago!
I got my first brother by selling enough stuff on eBay to pay for it! We had less money then! My Mom's first machine was a brother. She still has it. It is probably about 26 years old. That's why I bought a brother, because she's had that one for as long as she's had me, and it is still good as new!
