I just came across this site and found this calculator to help figure how many strips of fabric you need to cut for the size block you are making.
I'm sure I am explaining this totally wrong but thought I would share the site. I hope this is alright. I know figuring this stuff out is going to be an issue for me. http://www.blockcentral.com/calc-squares.shtml |
thanks for the link

Now that is way cool. Thanks for that link

A very helpful tool. I've also used this one:

Very cool. Thanks

Thanks for both links. Have no idea why I am so math challenged but, even if I think I have it figured out...I'm never really sure.

This is just what I need. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the link. It helps to even calculate the best size of block for minimal waste! Great.
ie. if you plug in 6" squares with a WOF 40" you'll need 17 strips for 100 blocks. Same if you use 6.5" blocks. But if you go up to a 7" block, you need 22 strips - a lot more fabric. I might just change up a pattern to waste less fabric! |
Well I figured I couldn't possibly be the only person out there who would have problems trying to figure out how many strips of fabric to cut to get the correct number of squares for the correct number of blocks I want to make. Math was never my strongest subject.

Bookmarked the link, thank you so much for letting us know about it!!
