I am trying to quilt the bargello that has become the nightmare from he** but I'm determined to get it done. I've only quilted one other thing on this machine, so there's no telling what I'm doing wrong.

I am using the dual feed foot, have set my tensions according to the LCD suggestions.........I am getting loops on the bottom, and the top just looks like the thread is laying there, and then when I go to turn corners I'm getting large loops coming through from the bobbin thread. I'm not getting sharp corners. I have tried to attach pictures so you can get an idea of what's going on. I would appreciate any help............once again ............. you guys are the best!!!

From what I can see in your photos is that your tension is out of whack. Check your manual to help you adjust your tension. If you're not having this problem when you're sewing normally, it should be a simple adjustment (up or down) for when you're quilting.

There's a lot to setting tension so sorry for sounding vague. But, your manual and retailer should be able to help.

when wierd things like that happen to me, it almost always turns out that i have either the top or bottom threaded wrong. (it's true. after all these years, i still get it wrong sometimes. go figure.)

from the looks of things, the problem seems to be somehow related to the bobbin.

have you taken out the bobbin case recently to clean under and around it? if not, maybe you should. if you have, maybe it isn't seated exactly right since you put it back in.

are you sure the foot is properly attached? feed dogs all the way up? foot pressure on a moderate setting?

before you wreck your quilt, make a test sandwich of fabrics and batting to work on while you figure it out.

i'd take it in to the dealer. let him put it through its paces. if it isn't defective, he should at least be able to help you figure out what's causing the problem.

Silly question - but is the Acufeed mechanism behind the foot been brought down and properly engaged on the foot?
Make sure the bobbin case is in properly and level (I didnt once and got same sort of problem). Check that the thread is coming off the bobbin in the correct direction.
What number is your tension on?
Sometimes it's easy to "miss" something while threading, check it out.

I don't have that machine so I don't have any pointers for you but I can totally sympathize with you. My last quilt was that same one thing after another deal and I began to think it would never end (it actually hasn't ended because that quilt is at the cleaners trying to get a ball point ink stain out. Don't ask.)

I hope you can get the issue figured out and get on with your quilting! It definitely looks like a tension issue from the bobbin side of things. Looking forward to seeing your bargello all finished! (I know you're looking forward to that as well!)

Problem on the bottom - solution on the top.
Problem on the top - solution on the bottom.

I think I got it figured out. I took it all apart, cleaned it, rethreaded it and put in a new needle. And after doing a little research on the Yahoo group I gave the screw on the bobbin case 1/4 turn. I don't know which of the above fixed it, but it seems good to go now. One more lesson for me :) Thanks everyone!

Good to see you fixed your problem. You might want to consider purchasing the additional bobbin case and stitch plate for this machine. That will help also.

Glad to see you got the 6600P. I've had mine for 2 years now and have not had to have it serviced yet.

I have had my 6600 for 5 years. I take it to my dealer who has become a friend about every 18 months and he takes it apart and cleans it for me. If you will look under the bobbin, you will see a little hole. It looks like a piece of gray lint. I cleaned it so good once and took that out. Mind you, it was hard to do. Well, it seems that is the little piece of stuff that does not come out because it is a built in factory oil piece.....
So, I am very careful not to dig to far. I love the machine and have really worked it out.
