I've never made a stack n whack, but I've been bitten by the bug. I never realized how much fabric it takes to made an octagon! I have a couple of pieces in my stash that are enough yardage, one is a multiple border type print with santas and trees. Has anyone posted a picture of a snw made with a border stripe fabric?

I think you could

You absolutely can use a border fabric.

If you take a look at your triangle shape that you'd be cutting, it's kind of irrelevant what kind of fabric it came from. And depending on where you make the cuts, it might not even be visible that the original fabric was a border print.

The same rules apply - good contrast in color and value, and a variety of shapes.

Looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks for your good input, I figured it's worth a try, I already have the fabric and have had it for quite a while so it's ok to experiment.

Oh absolutely, I've been working on a wacky stack n Wack, it has two border colors around it the make the colors pop, and to make each square into a larger square. Then it will have a sashing, so total, 3 borders. And I love the way it's turning out.
