2 Attachment(s)
I have an older Singer (I think around 1950-51) that I bought at an estate sale. Love sewing on it and use it almost exclusively.
It came with a few extra attachments and this is one of them.
I don't have a clue what it is for. Does anyone know?
Thanks!

It's a hemmer. I've never figured out how to use it. Seems easier to just press up the hem and sew it.

It is a tucker

A little more info, it's called a blackside hemmer. They were made during WWII out of metal that wasn't needed for the war effort. Some kits were all blackside, some mixed as they started adding the regular metal feet back.

The "Sewing Machine Attachment Handbook" by Charlene Phillips has good pictures. I think it actually might pay to learn how to use it. I keep meaning to try....

Thanks! Sounds like it needs to stay in the box just as it was :)
Probably why it still looks like new...lol

That's an adjustable hemmer. There are instructions for using it in pdf format on the web.

Oops, sorry, forgot the link:

The adjustable hemmer is on page 45 of the pdf - page 43 of the manual. :)

They're far too complicated to mess with, for me. I'd rather press and fold and press and sew. :)

Thanks for the link, thepolyparrot. I have lots of strange-looking Singer feet and have illustrated instructions for some, but not all. I've downloaded this PDF manual in the hopes that there will be more info. in there than I already had.

I have tons of old singer attachments and have yet to use any of them. They are so different from the newer machine but oh did they make beautiful quilts with those attachments. I have the manuals for them but have not done anything with them other than be so proud to have them. I am a collector but tend to be so busy with all the quilts I make on my 7570 and Juki that I just haven't taken the time to learn them other than the straight stitch foot.
