I have made several sports team quilts so I appreciate your dilemma. Some team colors present challenges, as does yours. The quilt is not about whether the baby is a girl or boy. It's about the parents being big Panthers fans. I would just scour the fabric store for colors which blend with the blue, use a lot of white and do a three-color quilt. Wish I could be more helpful. Personally, I would have fun with the challenge.

I would use this material and make deminsional windmills blocks. Then I would match the blue in the quilt and add a pink and put it all on a white back ground. Mixing the team print and the blue and pink pin-wheels will make it look girly. Use the same material in a check or piano key border.

I'm......kinda at a loss. Its for a baby. I want it to have some texture. I don't want a flat quilt. Help! I can't even figure out what other fabrics to go with it...let alone a pattern. Also...its a baby girl.

I agree! That's what I'd do.

Black n white toile or.... wonderful blues and whites log cabin or court house steps with beautiful red centers on one side and just the panther print on the other side w red binding!!!! This may be a very special quilt for parents and baby. I have a great nephew who still has a quilt I made him 12 yrs ago. I see expectant mothers buying loud, vibrant colored fleece for baby blankets. No hem, no sew. I mean neon lime green, purple, orange. If the mother likes it, she will enjoy caring for her babe even more.

I would cut it into squares. Then buy a white charm pack and make a rag quilt. I would probably fussy cut some, but not all of the designs.

The pattern Quilts for Kids use would be great. Use this for the big squares and then a 4 patch in blue and white. Also, if this is what the parents want, ignore the folks who say it isn't appropriate. Non-traditional is the new thing :-)
