I can't answer your question about the strips but wanted to say your quilt is beautiful.

I love the quilt! I made a baby quilt similar to this one and I used the whole length of the strip then cut them square. I did it with 4 strips per block so mine were smaller. I really like you quilt. What colors are you going to use for your grandsons quilt?
