Is it possible / or just a crazy thought to try to make a quilt using polo shirts?

The reason I ask is because my son was going through his shirts and mentioned that I make him a quilt using polo shirts.

Any information, tips, tricks good idea/bad idea and why would be great.

Thanks
Caro

you will have to stabilize the fabric... it would be similar to making a T-Shirt quilt...but very doable.

You could do it. You could stabilize the fabric with nylon tricot fusible. JoAnn's sells it in small one-yard packages, so you could try it out, but for a quilt it is cheaper to order it by the yard online. I got some online from a drapery supply company and it was a lot cheaper per yard. The advantage of nylon tricot over other fusibles is that it stays soft (does add a lot of body; you wouldn't want to try to hand quilt this stuff!) and has a little stretch so it doesn't completely change the nature of the fabric. It is used a lot in t-shirt quilts.

Prism99 do you still have the link for where you purchased it? Thanks Carol

Here's a link to the place online where I purchased mine:

Prices have gone up a lot since I bought it, but I think it's still a lot cheaper to buy in quantity this way. I think this fusible is 60" wide, and I actually liked it better than JoAnn's as it seemed a little thinner.

Do a search on the bblack website for "fusible tricot" to find the yardage. It's $3.95 a yard for 60" wide now. Can order it in either black or white.
