Can you wash a quilt with wool applique??

I am doing a Buggy Barn dog quilt and it suggests using wool for parts of the mouth. I would never want a quilt that could not be washed and think this may not be possible. This is good quality wool felt that I have.

I am thinking regular fabric would be a better choice but wool is very cute.

Felted wool will generally not shrink any further, if that is your worry. Use warm water, not hot. I machine wash (regular, non-felted) wool quilts with no problems. Of course, regular cotton would work just as well, too.

I have had good quality felted wool bleed onto the cotton when it is wet, so I guess I'd choose to use the cotton rather than the wool.
