i`ve never seen this topic but was wondering if any of you use this to clean out the fuzz in bobbin area.
Also just learned that a little fuzzy washer that came with my machine years ago is for putting inside the bobbin case.
need to try this.

I have read and been told by dealers that a vacuum is better for cleaning the fuzz from the bobbin space. It seems that the fuzz can be lodged into parts by blowing.

I keep a can next to my machine with a makeup brush . I blow it then clean it out with brush

I have always been told not to use it by service people. It pushes stuff further inside. It is better to use a brush. One repair man showed me that you can use it if you have the machine completely open and can blow out.

I have always been told not to use canned air because it can cause a build up. When I first got my HandiQuilter I was told to buy an air compresser to clean the machine out. Three years later when I have major problems with the machine, and had it cleaned out I was told not to use the compresser to use the tiny vacuum and/or a brush. I use a pipe cleaner to get in the places that a brush won't.

I, too, was told when I bought my new machine to never use canned air because it pushes the lint and stuff further back into other parts of the machine. I found a great solution-the Dirt Devil Kwik. It's a small (12" lon by about 4" wide) mini-vac. It has a little brush that can be attached and it reaches into narrow space. I also use it to clean my computer-another place not to use canned air. The Kwik was hard to find, not in any local stores. I ordered it on-line from the Dirt Devil website for about $20.00; probably could have gotten it for less by searching other sites. I'm really anal about cleaning my machine and this little vac was made for me !! LOL.

We use the canned air to clean the keyboard for the computer. A computer nut told us to. But after reading about the sewing machine people telling you not to use on machines, maybe we chouldn't be using it even on the keyboard.
And isn't this the stuff that some people are using to get high on and that's why we have to ask a clerk for it?

My repair man said not to use canned air - it blows the "dust bunnies" farther into the machine. I use a pipe cleaner or vacuumn it - I bought some small attachments for my vacuumn that work great for getting in the small areas. I also use a cleaned mascra wand - the dust bunnies just grab onto it.

It might be fine for computers, because they are very dry. The inside of a sewing machine is nicely lubricated with plenty of oil. (If it weren't, it would seize up like a car engine that had no oil.) The dust or lint or threads get stuck on the oil and that makes a real mess. It's like the really gross mess you can get if you don't clean the wall behind or the exhaust hood above your kitchen stove.
