So I won 3 charm packs on Ebay of the Christmas collection by Moda called birchwood lane. I know I want a lap quilt for our couch for the winter but I'm not sure of what pattern I'd like to use. Anyone used a really interesting pattern with any charm packs? I was thinking of doing the disappearing nine patch with a pieced border of triangles or some such. Hmmmm. Any ideas?

I have a box of them too, will be watching this thread.

Well you will have seen how my quilt with the moda simplicity turned out with the dis. 9 patch...I would highly recommend doing this pattern, its a cinch with charms, so easy to line up as the you use the zigzags as guides...good luck :D

I plan on using my 3 charm packs to do the disappearing nine patch. It looks like it will fun to do and they make gorgeous quilts.

A sampling of what I found for free patterns online:
Here are a couple from Fat Quarter Shop http://www.fatquartershop.com/freequiltpattern.asp
one from Amy Butler (towards the bottom of the page) http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/produ...e_patterns.php
some on the Moda site look like they could be made with charm packs http://www.unitednotions.com/un_main.nsf/free_patterns/
this one could be made larger http://redroosterquilts.blogspot.com...t-pattern.html

I just got two charms packs of the Moda Wildflower Serenade today. What a timely thread for me.

I made a quilt for a lady in Mississippi that lost her home to Katrina and just sewed all the squares together. She cried when my friend gave it to her. It really turned out pretty.

I have several of the 5 inch Moda charm packs and I'm making a quilt like mgshaw's civil war quilt. here's the link. Her stunning quilt is on page 6 of the link. Here is a picture of mine started on the design board.

Thanks for all your ideas guys!! Now I'm thinking of doing a reversible lap quilt. Came up with the idea last night at the craziness that was Michael's birthday party. Then I can make one quilt but have all my pretty fall fabrics on one side and the Christmas charm pack on the other. So add another project to the loooong list of stuff for me to do. Yay to projects!!!

I made this pattern with 5 inch charms from the Crystals collection. Well I tried to post a picture but it did not work.
The pattern is called Swirl and it is at www.pbtex.com.
The pattern is for 8 in blocks but I used 5 instead. It turned out great. Looks just like the picture.
