"Cat's Eye" quilt - Has anyone made one?
I saw a stunning "Cat's Eye" quilt at my LQS, but I wondered how difficult it is, what kind of fabric is required to achieve the desired effect, etc. Alas, they were sold out of the pattern, but you can see it here: http://www.quilterswarehouse.com/p-6...-concepts.aspx
Has anyone made this quilt? I've searched the QB site but found nothing. I would be sooooooo grateful to hear from anyone who has experience with this pattern! Thank you!!! Sushi |
i cannot even find pictures of this quilt pattern on the internet. i wonder if it is a fairly new pattern. you can order the pattern online here http://www.quilterswarehouse.com/p-6...-concepts.aspx. i cannot see the pattern very well from the pattern pic. it looked like there was some paper piecing in it but not sure. good luck with your quest.

it's hard to tell but it almost looks like those could be done with a 10 minute block, just with another smaller square inserted and the edges of the folds curved over it and sewn down. Hmmm.
you can get a larger pic here but not much larger http://www.quiltsuppliesonline.com/catseye.aspx and this one http://www.toadusew.com/store/e-patt...e-pattern.html |
I have no idea how that is made but I really love the effect

ok i found better pics and the effects are made with the fabric which is out of print. the pattern looks like some sort of cathedral window pattern and the fabric prints do most of the work. if you are interested in making the quilt, you will probably need to search online to find the fabrics, benartex opulence line by http://www.paulanadelstern.com/fabri...?line=Opulence . here are better pics of the quilt.

wow i love this designer's fabric designs. so so rich in patterns. thanks for the site link. i know i gotta buy something but i just cannot decide what.:) |
I would bet the farm that this is basically a 10 minute block. The secret is finding the right background fabric. The center block uses the rolled option with a smaller square placed in the center like a Cathedral window. It certainly is stunning.

looks like fun. I can't really tell how much of the work is done by the wonderful fabric. From here it looks like a drunkard's path with black "a la mode" and one corner of that cut off to make 1/4 of the square. Obviously, the right feature fabric makes a huge difference.

Usually Toadusew patterns are easy to follow, I have seen 2 different ones that I wanted to make because they looked so great completed but couldn't find the right materials.
Maybe they have kits on their website, I regret not checking it out at the time. |
