Wondering if any of you have a trick for centering the circle in the center of the dresden plate.
I have sewed and truned them and wondering the best way to center them over the opening. Do you fold, quater or just eye ball it. Thanks so much you all have such great ideas.
Happy Thanksgiving also.

There is not fabric in center of plate just a hole, I am wanting to get the same amount of fabric under the circle all the way around. Maybe I am dense.

I fold and quarter the fabric under the plate and then make sure the plate is centered on the fold lines.

Use Heat 'N Bond on your circle, fold it in half, align it with two of the blades of the fan, iron in place so it will stay put, and sew it on. I put my circle on top of the hole and machine stitch it with a blanket stitch. It sounds like you are going to put the circle underneath the dresden plate, am I right? I have always done it on top of the DP, never underneath...I may have learned something new today!

I've made 2 Dresden plate quilts and I just eyeballed!! I did the sew and turn and appliqued down. If I'm off a bit you would never know. When I get to my MIL's house I'll take a pic and post it. One of those quilts done before digital cameras!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

BTW: I slept under my avatar quilt last night at my daughters with that cutie quilt inspector beside me!!

I am doing it on top, I used backing and turned the circles and now trying to center it over the hole.
