I have supported my local fabric shop from the very get-go when the owner did not have much at all lol but I kept really wanted our town to have a fabric store so I kept going and told my friends about it and now the fabric store is flourishing and doing really well. The other day when I was in there I noticed she had a quite a few craft and quilting books but being the cheapo I am I do not buy books full price lol. While she was cutting my fabric I purchased she said I do not usually do this but I am going to give u my website that I order my quilting books from and I am able to mark them up at least 50%! So I here is the link ladies
http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/

keep in mind that ordering is differ to keep costs low from what I understand u can either request a catalog or browse through what they have and print off the order form and mail the order form and check, this help keeps costs low. I have not yet ordered but the shop owner has multiple times and said the shipping is $3.50 regardless of how much u order.

mhollifiel 08-07-2011 08:15 AM

You will find lots of quilting books if you use the search feature and key in quilt.
(top of page - first word on third line)

I've been sending Ed my money for years. Sigh. If you sign up, once or twice a year they have a special Needlework and Crafts catalog that comes out.

Here's the quilting link:

General Needlecrafts:

donnajean 08-07-2011 08:27 AM

Click on "Search by Subject" & then click on "Needlecrafts".

Once you purchase something, you will get their catalog every couple weeks for life.

I also have purchased from them for years. I do believe that the $3.50 shipping is for cash/check only sent via USPS. The shipping charges are just a bit higher when ordering online with credit card.

Always great service and excellent product.

alikat110 08-07-2011 08:52 AM

Thanks for the tip! I bookmarked them :)

Quiltinggma-nc 08-07-2011 11:49 AM

I found the quilting and sewing books. I clicked on subject search and then on needlecrafts. They have many books in each topic. Great site.

IrelandDragonQuilting 08-07-2011 12:02 PM

I used the search option and put in 'quilt' and used the description option and all kinds of books came up.

BellaBoo 08-07-2011 12:12 PM

I've used this company before internet! Does anyone remember how hard it was to find books before internet?

cny_sewer39 08-07-2011 12:15 PM

MY FAVORITE BOOKSELLER. I have been ordering books from them for at least 8 years. I am also SUPER CHEAP, and I LOVE the service. The cheap shipping is a defiant PLUS.

zennia 08-07-2011 01:37 PM

Tanks for the link. I just ordered a catalog. Can't wait to see what I can buy.

Joanne 08-07-2011 02:35 PM

Look under needlecrafts. Sewing, knitting, quilting etc. are all mixed together. I have ordered many times from them and am pleased with service. Happy hunting!

QultingaddictUK 08-07-2011 02:43 PM

I totally agree with you I really can't afford to spend out on books if I want my fabric etc; for my quilting addiction so your link looks really good but unfortunately they don't ship internationally.

For those who don't' live in the USA and those who do this site is a really good spot to find super bargains on books: http://www.abebooks.com/ scan to the bottom of the page and you will see that they cover a whole load of countries including here in the UK, Canada, Australia etc.

On Friday, I received my order of five books from Edward Hamilton using a free shipping promotion which expired 31 July.

My two favorite finds include Quilting for Busy Boomers by Stauffer and Hatch and --- drum roll please -- Wisconsin Quilts (history in the stitches-2nd edition). I am just thrilled to be owner of my personal copy of the second book which documents the Wisconsin Quilt History Project. I think I found that book under history. They also used to have the Minnesota book under history.

Total for entire order was $18.75 Happy shopping :o)

Buttons922 08-08-2011 02:37 AM

mlsudbey 08-08-2011 03:02 AM

I have bought a lot of my quilt books from them. I look there first to see if they have it before i pay full price for it.

wolflady 08-08-2011 03:08 AM

I order from them all the time. Great prices and if you are not happy with a book you can return it.

franc36 08-08-2011 03:42 AM

Thanks so much for sending us the site. I used to get the catalog but never ordered anything. Now that I see how many quilting books are on the web site, I'll be a regular customer.

Rettie V. Grama 08-08-2011 03:48 AM

Click listings. An alphabetical list will appear. In the right column you will find quilting. Click that and receive pages and pages of quilting books.

I have gotten lots of books from Edward R. Hamilton and the prices are great. They DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. That is one reason why they can keep their costs low. They will only accept checks. You can browse the website but as you say you CAN NOT ORDER directly from the website. Their selection is quite limited on quilting and craft books. They buy overstocks.
