Children's Quilt Show entries

I am looking to enter my daughters quilts into shows. Some shows have a children's section and I wanted to get some information. Does not have to be Judged. I just want to encourage her to quilt and show her work. She is nine.

Any suggestions for her to enter would be great!

Fairs always seem to have a good selection from children in the artforms and usually kids get a ribbon just for entering

My son entered his first quilt last year in the county fair as well. He enjoyed it so much he has ideas for entering this year as well.

At the fairs/shows I've been to usually have a youth entry category where every entrant gets a ribbon. There are so few entries that getting a first or second place in the category is not too difficult. If it is a judged show, the judges are so encouraging in their remarks to the kids. The judge I worked with did give the first place ribbon to a quilt that had been quilted over one that was tied, even though the construction of the tied quilt was better, in my eyes! Go for it and have a blast!!

Most County and State Fairs have a special category for childrens quilts.

Thanks for the information. I am going to go look up all of the fairs in the area and see the rules for entering. I love to go to quilt shows and see the work of others. I just thought maybe some of them supported the kids! If anyone else sees some let me know! Erika
