Christmas wrappings
I have finished my wrapping. I sew bags for all gift giving. I do different types of drawstring closures.
No paper here. When I bag the items, I place them in laundry baskets by child and dh can safety pin the tags on it bundle. I even got him bigger pins this year. |

I have done that in the past and found some this year I hadn't used from about 5 years ago, so I used them this time. I was just telling a niece that I really enjoyed making the bags and should do more. They can use the bags for storage or regifting, it is a great way to help the environment. I think more of us should do that to help out and it is fun toooo.

Great idea. something to think about for
next year. i dont like making purses but i like making them big bags. |
I like that...wish I thought of it this yr...But another is just buy a batch of fq's and wrap small items in those...this way your quilter friend gets two gifts....

I made draw string fabric gift bags a few years ago when my children were little. I bought after Christmas sale fabric and got a variety in different colours. I made sure to buy a different colour for each child. I then made several different sizes in their custom colour for a variety of gift sizes. Works great and I didn't even have to put tags on them because they knew which colour was theirs.

Another option is to use yardage for the wrapping paper. I have a few of these sewing together. About 1 yd of two different fabrics sewing together to make a square. Then use hair binders to hold the opposite corners together and create a bow with the corners that stick up. Only had two gifts under the tree this year that had paper on them. Ran out of the "Fabric Paper". Made for easy clean up and very little wasted paper that goes to the trash. Kids love the idea also. I think I am going to have to make some bags to help out for next year. They are always nice to have on hand.

Remember tomorrow is sale day for everything Christmas. Those of you who want to do this should go to the store and stock up on fabric for next year. The rest of us need to get out wrapping paper and cards, too.

Didn't make gift bags, but I did make each of the younger GKs (15-9) a pillowcase and their presents were inside the case with a ribbon tied around the top. They loved them. May have to make grown ones individual pillow cases now.
