Has anyone tried these as a substitute for the red snappers

I saw on a private blog that they were used and were 1/2 the cost., I am not sure as I have no one that I know who has tried them personally. I may be the first!

Are you comparing the Cover binding clips to the Clip and Seal? I don't see how the Clip and Seal will hold fabric, batting and binding when it's for thin packages. I would like to read your review of them when you try them out.

I have the Red Snappers and the Mondo 3 pack looks like it would handle up to a 120" quilt. They are 40" each pc. and you get three pieces. They are very skinny but the really do grip and you do not put your batting between them. You need top and bottom for your backing and bottom for your front. You lay your batting, pin in a few places and the lay on your top and sew across with your vertical lock on. Take out the pins and you are ready to quilt. I go one step further, I sew from the top left side down as far as I can go and then do the same on the right side. It really makes a difference when you start quilting. Good Luck.

May - Red Snappers are used to mount a quilt on a longarm.

I bought the Mondo clips first, and could not get them to work at all. Then I bought the Red Snappers and I use them all the time. They are not the same thing!!! The Snappers have been machined so that there is room for the fabric to be between the rod and the covering piece. There may be other differences as well (other than color) but I don't know what they are. I also highly recommend the Red-E-Edge for the sides.

There are also Leadergrips, which is what I use and love.

I use the clip and seal, I made heavy quilts, and they work well for me. I ordered the 10 pack and the 3 pack, cut one in half, cut one up for short pieces, and love them. The center rod is larger than the snappers, but not by much. They both will easy up after use. This company makes both.<o:p></o:p>

Longarmers need to know the minuses of the Red Snappers. I have 3 things I don't like about them: Too hard for arthritic hands to squeeze shut (I have to press them together on the table); The awkward roll, heavy on one side and won't clear the machine without adjustment; and for mounting those backs that are just big enough the Snappers use a little more fabric and don't allow the machine to stitch as close to the edge as pins do. FYI

I have three fingers on my right hand that are numb and I have no problem with either of these products ONCE you do it two or three times, they open up and are easy to squeeze together. The red-e-edge is heaven sent. It uses less space than pins and far less chance of throwing off my head timing if I accidentlally hit it. Pins are a disaster for the timing. I try not to use them anywhere and when I do I count them to make sure I have taken all of them out of my quilt. Like many of you, I almost threw them out the first time I used them. Now I cannot live without them.

One other difference is that the inside rods on the Snappers screw together so that they form one long rod inside your leaders.
