Getting ready to buy my boards for large wall board but what do you hold the
3 layers of the quilt with when you are stand up spray basting all layers together of a king size quilt. Too thick for binder clis when 1/2" board is added and pins aren't going to hold that weight and chip clips (good ones) cost too much for as many as I would need. Wow now that is a real run-on sentence for sure!

Ops I meant 1/4" board

what about clips from an auto parts store or a hardware store. you might be able to find some there.

Just guessing, but maybe they tape to backing to the wall spray and stick the batting down spray again and stick top down

Good idea. I was going to check out the hardware store for mini lightweight C clamps but would rather have clips. I just wasn't sure if there was a standard industry item I didn't know about since I am a newbie. There are so many ideas from this board that I always start here first with any questions. Thanks for the advice and quick response!

Get a piece of wood maybe a 1" X 2" and you will only have to use a couple of clamps to hold it across the end of the quilt...I would make sure to sand it and maybe seal it with some polyurathane to make it smooth..crafty_linda_b

I watched that video and she says she pins it to her board wall but what type of pins will hold the weight of a king size quilt that ends up being three layers? T pins may e but won't they put lg holes in fabric? I guess if I just do it on the edges it would be hidden in the binding?

I can't visualize that I'm sorry. How does that work?

Hi! I've never heard of this before. This is interesting. I'm noticing while watching her video that she is not using any clips. She starts by putting a fair amount of pins into the area above where her quilt is hanging so she can grab them as she goes. She first pins the backing fabric to the ceiling tiles - just along the top; sprays the basting spray onto the backing fabric; adds the batting (on large quilts - she has a helper to help) sprays it, then she pins the batting at the top as she works across adhering the batting to the backing, she continues to pull pins from up above on the wall and pins as she goes. Doesn't look like she is using any sort of clips. This is really a neat idea. I'll have to try it - thanks for the new lesson.
