The threads about Connecting Threads and the quality of their fabrics pushed my resistance to the breaking point! And the high prices of gas and cotton didn't help. So, I was very bad and ordered over 18 yards of fabric for $52.00. (Average price came to $2.88 a yard!!) Some of the clearance fabrics were only $2.40 a yard!! I could not resist it. I tried, but those prices won out! LOL!! No spending gas money to drive to the fabric store and no super high fabric prices!! Yay for me!!

I love CT. Have you read the blog and their quilt site? It's great. Full of free patterns and lessons.

Thats what I'm gonna start doing is just order from online, since gas prices are so high, I think I would be saving money....
You all will be glad you took the plunge. Their thread and fabrics are great and their sales are wonderful.
Aw, I dodnt think you were bad at all, look at all you saved, right????????????

What a timely thread this is! Today I rec'd my first order from them. I'm in Canada & I didn't wait too long...how nice is that! Anyway, I thought I would buy a bit to see what I thought of the fabrics....well let me just say WOW! I am so happy with my purchase. I am definitely buying more now, really, tonight! Okay, maybe tomorrow! I'm saying it again, I'm very happy!

My last order from them was the Canterbury collection, I love it. Got the abby bag pattern too, just need to get busy...Can't beat their prices.
I have ordered from them a couple of times and I too am in Canada...from what I hear on this board about prices our prices for LQS fabrics are much higher here...so even with the shipping charges it is a great deal...I don't find fabric here for $3.00 and if you do the quality is not LQS...the last time I ordered about 30 yards on sale for under $100..can't beat that...and I was very pleased with the quality of the cotton..

XSQuilter, I have been ordering from connecting threads for a couple of years now and have never been disappointed I'm also from Canada...The only question I always have when I do order from there is the duty/tax they charge me...I've order lots of places out of the US and haven't paid duty yet...but their prices are really good, so I just kinda over look it.

Also to the Canadians who order, you may notice that U.S. orders over 50.00 get free postage? Well Connecting Threads discounts Canadian orders of over 50.00 by the same amount! So if they can post a package for 4.00 to their U.S. customers, they take 4.00 off our postage costs. That's great service in my books. |
I've been told that I need to only use King Tut and Sew fine thread on my Tin Lizzie. My LQS is the only local place to buy it and they charge $32 for a 2000 yd spool. OUCH. I know you could use other threads, I've gotta find something less expensive that does not mess with my tension.

I recently ordered some of the Hobbs batting too, to give it a try but haven't used it yet so the jury is still out for me on that.
I loved their prices so I recently made a second order for a quilt kit that I am planning to make for my DD2's graduation. The fabric looks great! |
I also shopped last night. Bought 13.25 yards & thread. I placed a restriction on my order. Checked today & it was on hold with a message to call them. So I called, figuring some of the clearance fabrics I ordered may not be available. CS Rep told me they have it all & will ship soon :).
:( They don't ship to Aus......Ah well!
I did the same thing. Great prices.
I have ordered from Connecting Threads 3 times now and have been very pleased with my purchase.
Guess I need to go check them out and actually order something. I keep talking myself out of spending money. Crazy, I know!
Yes, they do have some great prices, and I love their fabrics.
So sad that they moved out of Vancouver, WA where I lived. They had a nice retail store and great warehouse sales. They still have a call center here.
Bamamama, I own a Tin Lizzie and I have used Connecting Thread on her....it is a bit linty, but works fine for me...If you are going from using poly to cotton you may have adjust your bobbin...I just put a practice piece on last night to set the tensions cause last time I quilted I was using varigated poly so I knew I would have to adjust my tension and I wanted to practice some free hand. I have used connecting thread from the start and never had any problems..I see they now sell Polyester thread and might try theirs. Just remember Lizzie will take any kind of brand well so far she works for me. I usually order from Tristan here in Canada also great prices.
Deema, have you tried ordering your batting from Tristan
http://www.tristan.bc.ca/cart/home.php, it's a Canadian base store, they sell batting and I have bought from them, it quilts like a dream. It is "Batting" Legacy Natural Blend 80/20 with scrim. I've also bought their cotton and Polyester Aurifil thread. I usually buy by the bolt and it is very comparable to the Warm&Natural..... |
CT's new thread is poly, thin and strong, and made for long armers. I use it for my bobbin thread for piecing usually with the CT cotton thread on top.
