I was thinking about getting some connecting threads batik charm packs to make a quick quilt. All the cutting already done has it's appeal. My question is how color fast would they be? I don't think prewashing 5x5 squares would be practicle but I don't want a bleeding mess after I put it all together. I'm figuring if none are prewashed they'll all shrink about the same so that should be okay. Most concerned with the color bleed. Anyone have any experience with these?

I would use a color catcher when you wash the quilt. It's amazing how it keeps colors from running. I use them on every new quilt and don't see much color in them at the end of the wash. Most newer fabrics don't run much.

I'll be watching for an answer here. Mine came today. I can't see trying to preshrink the squares, though I'd like to.

I prewashed my CT batiks with a color catcher and it came out clean and they didn't run into each other. So, I think this line is pretty safe. Though I'd add a color catcher or two to make sure.

I haven't had any problem with mine running.

Good to know. I use color catchers all the time, so will be sure to toss in a couple when I wash the completed quilt.
