Has anyone purchased any of their kits and/or made something using their material? I am thinking about buying one of their kits and was wondering what others thought about their material. Lisa

laceybritt 08-17-2010 09:06 AM

I purchase from them and have found their fabric and thread to be high quality. They also ship very fast and have a great customer service.

retired2pa 08-17-2010 09:09 AM

I've gotten other items from CT but never material. There was a discussion on here about this very thing and I think the opinions were divided equally that some liked their fabric and some didn't. I've looked at their charm packs and have been tempted to order some to see but I'm not sure what quality they would be for $3.00. I think I'll hold off for a bit :)

jdreamblue 08-17-2010 09:13 AM

I have used many of their fabrics and been totally satisfied. Just recently bought the canning line and love it.

MamaBear61 08-17-2010 09:18 AM

I have ordered several fabrics from them and have always been please with what I have received so far.

SuzanneTx 08-17-2010 09:22 AM

ditto on what everyone else has said.

laureneberhard 08-17-2010 09:27 AM

Just got their new catalog with LOTS of new fabrics and lower prices!! Can't beat that for caring about the quilters of the world!!

I have used their fabric and threads..Absolutely no complaints here.

dakotamaid 08-17-2010 09:29 AM

They have great fabric and great service!

ckcowl 08-17-2010 09:49 AM

they are a great on-line source for fabrics, threads and notions. they have good sales, very reasonable fabric prices and Great customer service! i would not hesitate ordering from them...in fact, placed an order with them just this morning.

magnolia 08-17-2010 11:52 AM

I have used their fabrics and thread and love it. I have also bought a kit from them. It is not pre-cut just gives you the yardage and pattern. I have not opened mine yet, but the fabric is high quality. When I finally find some time I will put the quilt together. I would recommend them.

Mattee 08-17-2010 12:14 PM

It sounds like I'm in the minority, but I think their fabric is extremely poor quality. I still use it (because it's so cheap) for quick projects that won't be used much, or for things that I don't actually care about very much. If, however, I am putting a lot of time or energy into a project, I pay more elsewhere for better quality fabric. I can see through their fabric which I find to be very thin. It's about the quality I would expect for fabric given that it costs less than $5 per yard. I have based my opinion, by the way, on dozens of fabrics that I have purchased from them either as yardage or as part of kits. They have several kits I would like to order, but I just am not willing to put that much time into a project with such poor quality fabric.

I have also had trouble with their customer service. Specifically, several occasions on which they failed to resolve technical issues which were keeping me from being able to order on their website. They failed to respond to me at all, or in a timely manner, and were unhelpful and unsympathetic to my inability to order.

I have ordered both yardage and kits from CT. I have found the fabric is suitable for heavy use items such as tote bags and quilts. The sale prices are actually very good.

bjnicholson 08-17-2010 12:22 PM

Everyone seems to like their service, such as replacing wrong colors or spots on the fabric, etc.

brookemarie19 08-17-2010 12:50 PM

I haven't bought any fabric from them, but the book I got was shipped very fast.

jbud2 08-17-2010 12:53 PM

I think you ought to do a search here for more threads having to do with Connecting Threads. I have enjoyed the fabric and kits very much.

2wheelwoman 08-17-2010 01:42 PM

I purchased and made a kit from them, and was extremely pleased. The fabric seemed to be good quality - and there was an enormous amount of it. The kit was not pre-cut, just had the yardage, and I had up to a half-yard left over of just one of the fabrics! There was certainly no skimping on the fabric.

tooMuchFabric 08-17-2010 01:49 PM

I have ordered fabric as well as kits form CT, and have not found anything less than the best from them.

Crlyn 08-17-2010 01:55 PM

I would love to be able to order from CT, they don't do international orders though.

You lucky people over there with your fabric buying!

thismomquilts 08-17-2010 02:09 PM

love, love, love their fabrics - others have mentioned their nice quality thread.

Marge L. 08-17-2010 04:19 PM

I can't comment on their fabric as I have never ordered any. But I just received my first order from there today for batting that was on sale. Couldn't believe it came so fast. Will have to try their fabric some time soon.

littlehud 08-17-2010 05:46 PM

I have bought a number of their quilt kits. The fabric is wonderful and they always give you extra. When I made their Lonestar quilt there was enough left to put a big lonestar on the back. They ship quickly. I just can't say enough good about them. I have only had one problem with them. They shipped the wrong fabric. ( eight yards of it.) I contacted them by Email and they called the next day. They sent out the correct fabric that day and told me I could keep the wrong fabric as their way of saying sorry for the inconvenience. That was eight yards of free fabric. I was in heaven.

hulahoop1 08-17-2010 05:51 PM

I have made numerous projects with their fabric, including 2 kits, and have really like them. I also use many of their threads.

I received an order yesterday only to find out it was supposed to go to Alaska. I called them and they told me to keep it, but they were sending a duplicate order to the correct place. In addition, because my order may have been compromised, they are sending another package with my order. Today, my order arrived. Betcha a duplicate comes in a couple days.

annette1952 08-17-2010 05:51 PM

I have bought fabric, kits & thread from them. Always was pleased. They are a nice place to deal with too. Also free shipping after $50.00.

sash 08-18-2010 06:26 AM

I thought fabric was very nice, and love the thread.

Connecting Threads says they will take back anything you are not satisfied with, no questions.

charismah 08-18-2010 06:46 AM

I am one of those quilter's that will only use quilt shop quality and name brand fabric......(please nobody say anything bad) However....I do buy connecting threads fabric....to give away. It is a second run material. (second rate)but they have such reasonable prices and cute lines..you an hardly deny them....I LOVE their thread.

BellaBoo 08-18-2010 06:58 AM

CT use to sell fabrics not manufactured to their specifications. I have some still in my stash and I can tell a big difference in quality from what they sell now. I buy a lot of their fabric lines in sampler packs and the kits I have from them are as good as any I buy from Fons and Porter, Keepsakes, or Fat Quarter Shop.

bearspaws 08-18-2010 11:19 PM

I bought some of their fabric last year and found it to be quite nice and thick, even thicker than some of the "name brand" fabrics I have. I have made my son a couple of pillowcases from the forest line they had a few months back and washed them and washed them and they still look great, no noticeable shrinkage and the print still looks fine( I line dry though, since I don't use my dryer). I guess the only way you are going to know what the fabric is like is if you take the plunge and buy some.

OneMoreQuilt 08-18-2010 11:52 PM

I've not used much of their fabric but have been happy with everything else I've ordered from them.

Lucinda 08-19-2010 02:48 AM

I AALSO HAVE BOUGHT MATERIAL AND FOUND IT TO BE HIGH QUALITY

mjsylvstr 08-19-2010 03:22 AM

As I mentioned before on a thread.I have bought their fabric in large quantity when they have it on 1/2 off sale..and I am very pleased with it. They have some very patterns to chose from for backings.

I was not sorry and I will definitely buy again.

paloma 08-19-2010 03:44 AM

I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM ,NOT EVERYBODY CAN AFFORD HIGH PRICED MAT. IF THEY WANT TO QUILT I SAY BUYH WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD BELEIVE ME IF YOU GIVE QUILTS AWAY NO ONE IS GOING TO ASK YOU WHAT YOU PAID OR WHERE FROM.

krob 08-19-2010 04:41 AM

I agree with Mattee--their fabric is thin and hardly any color on the back, in fact, rather white-ish.

moonwolf23 08-19-2010 04:49 AM

The fabric I bought from Connecting threads, the frost line, when it was on sale(because I'm cheap and well I saw it when it was on sale) was really decent fabric. It's silky smooth and heavy fabric. I haven't noticed any differance and in fact it may be thicker then the scraps I got from the Bernina store.

Though to be honest, I haven't noticed a whole heck of a lot of difference in quilt shop fabric vs Joanns(gasp) or Hancocks. But I will have to say Connecting threads has some of the best quality that I've bought.

The reason they are so cheap if you go and read them on their site, is that they cut out the middleman. They order directly from the mills instead of a another person who delivers it to the quilt shop.

watterstide 08-19-2010 05:04 AM

i think thier kits are awesome and the fabric is quality. go ahead, you won't be sorry!
if you can get a friend to order with you, you can get free shipping if you order $50.00!
the new connecting threads mag came the other day, and the thread is back and the new fabrics look super!

renee765 08-19-2010 05:26 AM

I've been ordering from Connecting Threads for about a year and a half, and am very surprised at the comments that their fabrics are not good quality. ALL of the fabrics I have received are very, very nice. They don't feel like they are mostly sizing with a little fabric thrown in. I have to say that I've bought LQS fabric that didn't seem to match the quality of the fabric I ordered through Connecting Threads. I have also gotten to where I only use their Essential Threads.

I think it may be that how each of us defines 'quality fabric' might have slightly different criteria, based on our past experiences and intentions for that fabric. There are no wrong answers.

grannyp70 08-19-2010 05:30 AM

I have gotten quite a bit of fabric from CT and I have found that it is really good fabric, I have made a couple of baby quilts out of them and they hold up really well. I have compared CT fabric with LQS fabric and couldn't tell the difference in them. I will continue to buy my fabric from CT, and if they make a mistake in your order they will fix it really quick.

I will also add, that their thread breaks less in my machine, then the other 100 percent cotton that I've used. The non Connecting threads cotton thread was purchased both at quilt shops and hancoks or Joanns. The thread at Connecting threads is value for your money, you would look at paying 15 or more at a store for the amount you get and it doesn't break as often.

Right I need to go find some caffeine, I may or may not have made sense.

I don't know when you bought there fabric but I am very satisfied with the high quality of their fabric and thread. It is not "name brand" because it is all made for them. I have never had a piece that I did not think was comparable to high end quilt shop fabric.

jtrott522 08-19-2010 06:09 AM

I have bought their kits...they give you way more than needed. I like their fabrics. On the charm packs , check the number os charms as their have way less than Moda
