Convergence Quilts
 

I am so intrigued with some of the Convergence quilts I've seen, but I'm not really sure how to make one. Does anyone know if there are any good tutorials online to make them?

Ricky Timms has a book on convergence quilts - check his web site maybe he has some suggestions.

I made one in a class. Gave the book away after that. Just had to do one but never would do another. I liked it but some quilts just don't stay with me well. I tried to post a photo of it but that particular photo just doesn't want to be posted. I did mine with Otter print. turned out nice. you do a lot of cutting and mixing up things and then sewing. it can be confusing, even the instructor got confused, but we got it done!

I did one by just looking at what others had done. I had some leftover lion and elephant fabric I placed in opposite corners and two fabrics that had similar colors. By cutting at varying widths and putting it back together it turned out as a fun quilt for my husband.

this was pretty much my experience. Made one and gave the book away.

That's a great tutorial on her blog even though she says she never meant it as one. I did a small one (I have his book) and made it into a large mug rug as a gift for a friend. His book is a good read even if you decide you don't want to make one, maybe you can find it in the library.

This was quite helpful to me! Thank you to everyone who posted. I felt like I was missing a few of the steps in my mind to try making one of these.

If you can, do sign up for a class on making one. You wil get to see other quilters' fabric choices and be fascinated at how beautiful they are. Ricky Tims created this technique, and his book shows how you can use different fabrics and colors and achieve a beautiful project for yourself.
