I am doing a little quilt to be donated to an organization that will sell it and donate the money to the Alzheimer’s Foundation for research. It is a design that I made up but used a block that I found somewhere on the internet and a block from EQ. Do I have to write for copyright permission or is this considered a unique block?

EQ states that none of their blocks are copyright protected.

It is not the EQ that I am worried about it is the block from the internet.

Most traditionally pieced blocks are in the public domain, but paper pieced blocks or applique blocks are often originals and therefore shouldn't be copied without permission. It's hard to know what to tell you without more information, like where you found the block.
