Good morning - I recently purchased a large quantity of finished blocks and I'm drawing a blank on the name. Each block is a slightly crooked nine patch with each side bordered by what almost looks like an elongated triangle. It's a common nine patch variation and I'd like to see a finished quilt to see just how to set the blocks (this also came with finished half square triangles, possibly alternate squares) but don't know what name to look for. I know I've seen it in my many books. These squares are really pretty, the whole lot was $2 and they'll make up into a really nice charity quilt for my guild.
Thanks for any help you can give me and sorry I couldn't give a better description. |
"wonky 9 patch"? I just seen some better photos of them, and now can't remember where it was. But here is one I've just found:

It sounds like you already have the answer. It helps to post a picture when you are looking for the name of a block! Imho.

Thanks MollieSue, that's a good start.
If I had a digital picture of the block I would have posted a picture. |
I had just seen several online not too long ago. I think it was when I was searching for Disapearing 9 Patch block directions.... But there were much better pictures of it, I just can't find them right now! lol!!

i think quilterscache.com has it as tilted block.
i did a quilt like that. we used rectangles and cut them after sewing onto the center squares. i did another one but cut the rectangles in half on the diagonal and did tilted blocks that tilted to opposite sides. http://quilterscache.com/T/TiltingFourPatchBlock.html this was called Twist n Turn i did in a class http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6...rrent=1848.jpg by this lady http://www.librarything.com/work/1622657 this i did at home. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6...rrent=882f.jpg |
