Cotton Theory???
 

I was at the local expo center today. They had a section on quilts and a vendor was pitching the "Cotton Theory" Has anyone ever done a quilt using this method. It looked really cool and maybe something I'd like to do. The only drawback was my budget wouldn't permit the costly book or DVD. This method is basically a quilt as you go. Just wondering if anyone could further explain this to me. Figured if anyone knew it would be from this board. You guys are GREAT!! Thanks

I just finished a cotton theory quilt, I took a class at a local quilt shop, at first seemed a little over whelming, but once you get the idea of how it goes together, it was alot of fun, I have the quilt on my bed, and I think its the warmest quilt, I have ever made. You quilt the blocks as you go, then you use a folding tool to connect the pieces, not hard to do once you understand the process. I have seen the books on ebay at a discount at times. Enjoy, I would do another one again.

My library has the book, maybe you could check your local library?

It's too complicated to explain, sometimes you can find great deals on Amazon if no one on the board has the book.

I just saw some on eBay - priced from $15 to $55 !!! I'm thinking I'll check the library first to see if I really would want to add it to my library.

I bought the book and some accessories at a quilt show a few months ago. Haven't done it yet, but just glancing through the book made me a little nervous. I wish I could take a class on doing it.

I got the book for Christmas last year and following the instructions was able to make a nice table runner. I also have a table topper started. I think the book is worth the investment.

I never heard the phrase 'cotton theory', but I am making 'quilt-as-you-go' blocks. I sew together each block top, then sandwich it, then hand quilt it. I have quite a stack. When I have enough I will sew them all together, top first then the back. Is that what you are talking about?
