I made a purchase at JoAnn's yesterday. I had a $5.00 off coupon and a 40% off coupon. The cash register took 40% off my $5.99 item and $5.00 off the $21.99 quilting book that I bought. I thought the amount was more than what it should be a the time that I paid. Should I go back to Joann's with my receipt and get a refund? I was told by a clerk a long time ago that the cash register would automatically decide the best deal when coupons were scanned. Not true now. BTW - All items were regular price.

I would go back. I have had walmart charge me more many times for things. So yes, it is your money and you worked hard for it. And then your mind will feel better :-)

I would go back.

I guess computers are all that smart after all.

Go back and insist that they adjust your purchase. I was always told too that they would give you the best deals.

I would go back. I try to use only one coupon at a time so I avoid "the register knows" or give the $5 off at the end after the 40% has already been done.

Was the $21.99 item a sale price? I believe the coupon had to be on a regular price item.

If it wasn't on sale, I would definitely go back, but I would actually call first as my Joann's is about 25 miles away.

I always make sure that I tell them exactly what I want it used on. Go back and let them make it right.

Definitely, go back. They always tell me the computer gives you the best price. Not true I just found out!

That happened to me the other day at JoAnn's. I bought a bolt of fabric and wanted to use the 40% off coupon; plus I had a package of calligraphy pens that I wanted to use the $5.00 off coupon on. I told the young lady at the register how I wanted to use the coupons and thought she had rang it up accordingly because they usually are very proficient. When she told me the price, I thought it was unusually high but went ahead and ran it through on my credit card. Just before I left the store I looked at my receipt, and sure enough it was just backwards.

I turned right around, and I'm afraid not thinking and sort of rudely, went straight back to the cashier in front of another customer, and pointed out the mistake. She profusely apologized and refunded the bolt of fabric on my credit card and rang it up the other way. After leaving the store, I thought about it, and I really didn't get the full amount off the calligraphy pens, but when all was said and done, I saved almost $30.00 on the bolt of fabric.

You can rest assured I will check my receipts much more carefully in the future before I leave the store.

Go back. Make them ring it up separately, if they have to.
