I saw the coolest cloth shower curtain at Wal mart for 14.00 - it is 70 by 72 - I love the colors; design and the feel of the material - all I would have to do is remove the plastic liner by cutting from the top.....
have I lost my mind? |
heck no, you haven't lost your mind. that's a pretty clever idea.

I think you are very creative not crazy. Just check the quality of the fabric 1st to be sure you do want to work with it. Please keep us posted.
Not crazy, just a great idea!
I love the color combo!
Not crazy at all. I just cut mine apart to use for the backing of a quilt. Great minds think alike.
You're just thinking 'outside the box' (or shower in this case)
I was looking at it and thought it would be a great quilt pattern |
Great idea!
okay then, i have bought some very unusual fabric shower curtains to use for quilt backs. not crazy, creative. cost me $4.00 each - brand new!!! not crazy, smart.
I think it's a great idea, love the curtain!
I did it in reverse, made a quilt top (except I serged my seams and also reinforced with seam tape as I went) and used it for a cloth shower curtain with a separate liner. I couldn't find what I liked in the stores, it came out great and I'm still using it gosh, 7 or 8 yrs later! |
Would make a perfect backing fabric...that works out to almost 4 sq yards of fabric...smart gal you are..Linda B.

I was online looking for a new shower curtain for the kids bathroom and saw this and just fell in love with the pattern and colors...I think I'm going to buy it - if it doesn't work - Material isn't right or something I can always hang it in the kids bath! |
Target has some cool cloth ones along this "mod" line.
That's a great idea....
Thanks...   |
If you've lost your mind you're in great company here...seeing a quilt in anything you love is in MVHO called...creative genius!
works out to be about 4.00 a yard- pretty good I'd say.
What a great idea - opens many possibilities!!
Not crazy at all!! I know I look at the clearance sheets alot for the backing for quilts. I purchased some solid kingsize sheets for 3.24 each!! I also purchased the pillow cases - not as great a deal yardage wise but they were .75 for two!! I am in the process of making fishing pillow cases for my great postal guys and will use one for the backing for them!! I have also used the childrens curtain panels for backing or even squares for a quilt - You can find the Barbie, Cars etc patterns easily and cheaper than the fabric this way!! Just have to watch fabric content.
Wow!! I love to shop clearance isles and you have given me more reasons to look!! Thanks cheryl  |
nope, haven't lost your mind. You have just entered the wonderful world of Quiltdom! :) We see quilts in everything!
You haven't lost your mind!! In fact, I like that so much, I wouldn't even cut it up...I'd add some borders, sandwich and quilt it just like that! LOL
