I need your help in deciding whether to get this machine. Is it a good one and will it help me in quilting? I have a Brother XL3500 right now and I was looking for another machine to help me in quilting. Thanks for your help in advance.

The first thing you want to check is the size of the throat plate.

It looks like it is the same size as mine that I have now.

There are many conflicting reports on the Brother machines, but, I have a really basic one and it is wonderful. No complaints at all.

I gave my sister the XL3500 in May-it was a good little machine, just didn't do what all I needed. I just bought my mom the 6000 for Christmas and she loves it! She has sewn on both and says the 6000 is great!

i have this machine, and i don't think you can get a quilt to go between the needle and the inside of the machine, it's a stuggle , but it's a nice machine for other things, and i love that it has speed control and you don't have to use a foot pedal.

I was talking to a gentleman who quilts at a garage sale last September, he had this machine and absolutely loved it. After he'd had it for a year, he bought one for his daughter for Christmas. I recommended it to the mother of one of my student's who wanted to get her daughter a machine for Christmas and so far no complaints! So I think it's a good deal.

There is also an upgrade to this machine. It has a few more stitches but other than that, the only difference I could see between it and the 6000 was the warranty and the price. It's the XR9000. I think Amazon has the best prices on these machines.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. I will look at Amazon and other places for the best price.

I have one and I love it for piecing! But the throat space really isn't big enough for doing the quilting. Since I don't like doing that part anyway, it's not a problem for me.

Got it from Walmart.com.... free shipping!

I have one. I have to agree, it's difficult to quilt anything very big. But for piecing, it's great!!!
