The neighbor down the street had a yard sale for the last two days. He said what he didn't sell was going in the garbage.
Here are the five things my dil went down and pulled from the curb. I haven't cleaned them up yet, don't even know if they will run. Syl Commander Singer. It has the origional book that came with it. It says Quilting Machine. I've seen these in Walmart, but never tried on out Model 500 A about 25 different stitches Model 503 A about 11 different stitches Model 401 A 40 or so stitches, different sizes. Wow, they are beautiful!!

One man's trash.......
Be careful as it appears you may have a nut for a neighbor. For those not to sell, he must have had them really over priced. You DIL did good.
WOW!!!!! Even if they don't, which I hope they do, you could still find a use for the part's! You lucky girl!
Wow - great finds. Glad your husband rescued them for you.
My gosh! Not sure where you live in Florida, but all I find at yard sales around here is beat up old "silk" Walmart flowers. Fantastic. Looks like attachments even for one of them.
Even if he had them priced really high it seems like he would have lowered the prices later in the day. I can't believe someone didn't make him an offer!!!!
Holy Cow! Did you every score the big one!!!!
COOL
He must have been a real Nut not to have least gave them to a Goodwill are something instead of trashing them. Your lucky day
I'd say. :D |
Wow, is this your lucky day or what???
Are you kidding me??? Can't believe you pulled those out of the trash.
Wow! You got blessed today!!!
I love them all but if you want to sell the 500A - let me know. Even if it doesn't work. I need some parts.
Lucky you and his loss is definitely your gain. Wowzers! I can't even imagine coming across one of those much less all that you did!! Sweet finds!!
WOW!!!! So glad you found them.
WOW, lucky you.
Oh me. I have the Singer 401A. Was my first wedding anniversary gift from my husband in 1957. Mine has been a work horse for all these years. Can't imagine someone leaving that on the curb...........Lucky you. I am proud for you........
Happy Quilting........ |
My mom has been sewing on a 401A since the 60's. It's a great machine!
I can't believe he didn't sell those! I wonder what actually did get sold if these were his 'garbage'!!!!
Lucky you I hope they all run. Have fun with your new toys.
Wow, what a haul. They look in pretty good shape. Let us know if the work for you.
What a haul! Good for u!!
I can't believe the things people put in the trash. There are so many recycle stores for this stuff. Lucky you - hope you can use them. or whatever.
WOW, lucky you!
Lucky lady!
Great looking machines, I'm glad your dil picked them up, that would have been a real shame to have them in the trash truck.
OMG!! Did the sewwer pass away and he was dumping assets? Hope you rescued her stash as well.
You really lucked out!!! Must have been karma that you got them. Congratulations.........I'm hoping they all work too.......wouldn't that be super....lol
Some people just don't know what they have. Good for you saving them from the trash.
Great find!!! Enjoy
I live in Florida and haven't had any luck finding vintage machines at yard sales. I've been looking for a 500 or 503 Rocketeer for quite a while now with no luck. You're very lucky and I'm sure you can get these machines up and running.
I'd love the 401.
I'd love to have the older machines. They are work horses.
Wow! hope they work for you
wow amazing what people throw out. The Tiny Tailor is one of the worst machines ever made, the other 4 are good machines. Make sure that that 503 has the 0 cam or it won't do anything but straight stitch.

Sometimes you can get original manuals for them emailed from the company. I just got one for an older Viking emailed to me. They scanned the old manual into their data base and can send out to anyone who needs it. Love technology! Kudos to your DH.. A great find!
WOW, WOW, WOW!!!
TERRIFIC!!! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! |
I don't know about all of them but I know the Singer 500 & 401 are considered among the best & sought after by collectors. I have a 500 I love, hopefully with a little cleaning oil & lube you can get them working.
