I have been watching and reading for several months now, and am curious about a tag I see with some members avatars. The notations of "regular" or "moderator" or "community benafactor"---what factors come into play to merit these descriptions? Are they like 'merit badges' for services rendered? Or depending on the number of comments posted? No critisim intended, just curious, like my cat.

I found this information in the help section.
User titles associated with accounts have the following structure: "new user" -- first two weeks after the registration. "a regular here" -- at least 20 posts during the two weeks up to date (assigned/removed automatically); does not include posts in the Classifieds section; updated daily at 5:30 AM eastern time. "community benefactor" -- outlined here. "top poster" -- a user with the highest number of posts. "moderator" -- users who help moderate the board. User accounts registered over two weeks ago (on any given day) but with less than 20 posts in the previous two weeks don't have any title associated with them. Edited to add: More on community benafactor What is the "Community Benefactor" status listed next to some user names? From time to time, I present quilting-related products to the members of this community. Part of the proceeds from sales of such products goes to help paying the costs of running the newsletter and this message board. As such, I feel it is only appropriate to signify a person's contribution with this small token of appreciation. This status is appointed to any member of this community who orders any one (or more) of the special offer products, and by doing so helps the Quilting Board prosper. The status remains active for three months since the day of the last order and gets updated regularly. |
Great explanation Annthreecats!

Sometimes I'm a regular then get too busy sewing and forget to post and now I'm nothing. 20posts a fortnight hmmm need to remember that.

Thanks, annthreecats. I guess I did not read through ALL the pages of 'help'. I just don't have the time to post on each topic; I'll never get to be 'regular' :-( . Do enjoy reading thru each topic, but usually several people have already expressed the same remarks I would have made, so I figure 'why bother?' This is a great place to pick up info and inspiration; thanks everyone

Thanks for the info!
