I have lost the"purple dongle" that goes with this embroidery System software. I have 4D Embroider but this is so much easier to use for quick easy designs. Anyone have an idea where I might get a replacement.

There is no replacement. They told me when I purchased the 4D, if you loose it you have to buy the package again. So keep very good care of the dongle. It is their way of saying "Definately no Sharing"..

There is a couple of 4D softwares on Ebay. The cheapest one is $149.00. You may want to keep searching for your lost dongle.

I don't think Embroidery System will work with tthe 4D dongle, but I'm going to try.

My dongle quit working so had to upgrade to 5D Embroidery at the tune of $299 :-(

I am sure it is not going to work. I guess it is worth a try though...

That is exactly what they want us all to do...

Y'all are making me more nervous. I have 2 Pfaff 2170's and 3D software which of course doesn't want to communicate with my laptop with Vista. Bought older refurbished PC. Still no go. Are you saying there is a 5D out now?? yeepers.

Someone suggested a free software download that I could test out. It gave my PC a lovely virus that required a tech to get rid of.

Now I'm wondering if I need to start over (like I can afford that!) And of course I have a UFO that the embroidery isn't finished on.

The good news (I guess) is that I DO know where my dongle is!

I have bookoos of trouble with my 4D when I first got the Vista. Called software company and he said that 3D WILL NOT WORK WITH VISTA!!! When I took the one program of 3D that i was using off, I did not have another problem.. It is OK as long as you are using 4D only.

I just wonder if I should skip getting 4D and get the 5D? Right now I'm stuck with nothing!

Sure, You can go straight to 5 D. I have 4 D now and I am very pleased with it. Of course 5 D does more stuff than the previous ones but, for no more than I use it, 4 D works just fine for me. It is always spooky to get a new software or new computer. Seems like we always have a problem of some kind or another.

Becky, Guard the dongle with your life....There is no getting a new one. My friend was a dealer and someone in class pulled it out of her computer and broke it. Even she had to buy a new suite...That can be very costly. As it is absolutly no good without the dongle.

I was just "googling" this issue and bumped into an article having a .pdf file that walks you through trouble shooting. One of the things it says is to not be plugged in to the internet when you set your computer up and load the software. It couldn't be that easy a fix, could it?? Dang, I get sidetracked so easy...I'm also very curious...

featherweight 01-07-2011 03:40 PM

You can try it. I am never on the internet when I install a new software program. I am sure it will not work. But, try it and let me know!! All I know is that 3D will NOT work with Vista. This came from the SOS through viking Husqvarna software helpline...Which I paid extra for as I was having so many problems with it.
