Good Morning ladies! I was wondering when you start to cut your fabric do you put the fold at the top or bottom of your cutting board. I was told top then bottom what is the right way?

I find you are less apt to get a dog leg at the fold if you cut with the fold at the bottom. I cut from the fold edge.

Thank you so very much! I' new at quilting but finished a Halloween wall hanging and it turned out pretty good, at least that's what other quilter's have said.

I never paid attention to this but will now- thanks!

i keep the fold near me. it's easier to see where my ruler lays than if i had it at the top/away from myself.

duh. I've been getting off-grain and I'm pretty sure it's because I've been keeping the fold at the top and it's too hard to see. You guys are geniuses! No matter how long I've been quilting, I learn something new every day.

My fold is at the bottom also.

I start at the bottom fold as well.
