do a search of 1800's reproduction fabrics- you will find lots to look at
it is dark-kind of- blues, turkey reds, oranges, browns-
nothing is really bright-

It will also have a small print that can go either direction. You know their skirts dragged on the ground.
When the hem wore out and they passed it on, they would take the skirt off the band and turn it upside down so the other end would be worn. Prints had to go both directions.

What an interesting bit of history. I guess people of those days did just about anything they had to to survive!

Windham fabric.com has a good supply of it; but it you do a search for civil war reproduction fabric you should get alot of sites that have it. It's very popular.
