I am going to make a tree skirt out of used mens ties. I was wondering if any one had used ties before to sew with and could give me some advice. I need to know if i need to put a iron on pellon on the back of the tie pieces before I cut the quilt pieces out. Any help will be appreciated.

I had a friend make 6 quilts out of old ties for friends daughter(who had lost her dad). SHe opened them all up, removed what ever needed removing, and then fused them to a light weight interfacing. She did this because the ties were all silk. Not sure if poly ties would need it, but one never knows until one tries I suppose!

I have a large tote of men's ties and would also like the answer.
