Hi all. I started a thread yesterday about buying a Singer that the seller said dated to 1865. I'm trying to confirm that by the serial number, but there are two numbers that look like serial numbers, one above the other. Do I use the top or bottom number, or is there another place I should look? Thanks.

Don't have an answer, but I saw your posting:
"Dating my ancient Singer" and was wondering if you were going to ask about which restaurants in your area accepted AARP cards. |

Here's the best photos I could come up with. I hope they help.

copy both down and check them both on Singer's website...the real serial number will stand up at that time....

Try cross posting this onto the Vintage Sewing shop thread. Billy or Glenn or Miz Johnny should be able to help you out.
