Dead sewing machine

I was in the middle of sewing my BOM when a poltergeist got a hold of my peddle and it would not stop. Now I have to go get my other machine that is 20 miles away :(. Why do they come around when you are in the middle of something you want to get done today.

Don't know. I think sewing machines are also ruled by muphy's law: Anything that can go wrong, will and at the worst possible time.

I've had a ghost in my foot pedal too. I replaced the foot pedal and the machine has been sewing fine for 5 years at least.

When I had a runaway pedal, I unplugged, took it apart and cleaned the dust out..Couldn't hurt...

I haven't had this problem yet.

If it was a convenient time it wouldn't be a problem. Murphy rules! Hope it is just a minor fix. May be just a loose wire or a break in the cord insulation.

Omg...just an hour ago i was quilting with my walking foot...suddenly,it won't stop running when i take my foot off the pedal. I'll try taking it apart and cleaning it tomorrow. What a timely topic!

I was fortunate when my pedal went crazy, running very fast even with my foot off of it...all I had to do was remove the cute little dog's butt from on top of it.

Thats to funny---wish mine was that easy to fix. :)

Found the problem. Need a new pedal. A piece broke off inside. So will be going to find one tomorrow,

Cause that's the only time we notice them! Good thing you have a back up.

I had just the opposite yesterday. In the middle of winding bobbins for the longarm, foot pedal quit working. Had to pick it up and shake it a couple of times before it would start again.:D

One on my vintage New Home did that a couple weeks ago when I turned on the power strip. Hasn't done it since. Guess it would not hurt to take the foot pedal apart and check for dust bunnies.

YEA !!!! :) I am back in business. Exchanged the foot peddle with my other machine and now I can finish my BOM .
