Have a lot of patience and good luck to you - it's challenging but fun.

When I made mine I just started with the block I thought was the easiest and kept working my way thru the book that way. Most days I did just one and a few days I made up to three. It has been waiting to be quilted for a couple of years now....but lately I have considered removing the border and adding to it. But I can no longer find the tone on tone cream back ground fabric that I used.

I think by the time you finish you'll be a handpiecer and applique expert! I guess I'm one of the few that does not want to make a reproduction of the DJ quilt.

Thanks, Bella! Actually I do very little handpiecing - mostly I freezer paper piece, but yes, lots of needle turn applique which I'm learning to love. Thanks for looking!

Yes, I made one with a group whom made 5 blocks a month for four years. The directions were terrible but don't get discouraged because the final product is fantastic. The word of advise I have to offer is to tear out the paper pieced blocks as you make them. Several of us did not and at the end it is not fun to rip them all out at once. I was lucky, my daughter took them home with her and did all the work for me.

I entertained the idea of making one, but realize that there may be a better time in my life than now. I'm not committed enough at this point in time. Although I admire anyone who does complete it! Good luck. If you do, please post pics as you go.
