i got a walmart Brother cs6000i. it is lightweight for carrying but sews really well.
I'm using a Brother LS2000 that I bought on Craigslist. Light and does simple sewing. It does clog up with lint easily, so keep a thin paint brush to brush it out. I'm guessing it's about a couple years old.
