I made a rag quilt using old denim jeans I bought at garage sales. I put a red plaid flannel for the back, sandwiched the flannel and denim together, no batting since it would be heavy enough. It turned out real nice and DS loved it.

Denim rag quilts are really nice. I made one for my son. Just used the denim for the top and a flannel for the backing, no batting as it's plenty heavy with just the 2 layers. just type in denim quilts on the internet and you will find a ton of them...good luck on your projects.

Just use squares of different colored denim sewn together.
Rag quilt is good too, denim is good for that.

I did two quilts using 3" strips, and the pockets scattered on top for design. The pockets were not easy to sew on. I ended up tying the quilts, and the boys next door love them.

If you google "denim quilt images" you will get lots of ideas.
