I love to quilt, don't we all? Otherwise we probably wouldn't be here. But, I've only been quilting for 18 months. Before that, I sewed clothes for my girls who are tall and lanky so most things don't fit them very well or at the very least, need some alterations. I started sewing almost 5 years ago when my oldest was a toddler and really starting to get tall. After 2 years of sewing I bought a serger to help with making the clothes but I bought it used and got what I paid for. Last fall it started to go and then it decided to stop working around Christmas. I wasn't too upset since I was bit by the quilting bug but my girls are still growing and needing longer hems so DH went out and got me this. It's a 5 thead and lets me do coverstitches to do decorative work on quilts.

Ps 150 02-09-2011 06:14 PM

Thanks! It's only a week after he went out fabric shopping with me! http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-96288-1.htm We bought all the fabric and then I still went out a couple days after this to get some more clearanced fabric and then to Joann's to get some specific fabrics for a new quilt. Usually DH sits in the car and waits but now he's coming in with me and even feeling the fabric and giving his opinion on the "sheen", "durability" and "tone-versus-tone"! I'm not complaining but loving this!

It's awesome to get me a new serger but I kind of expected him to get me a plain 4 thread to use on clothes. Instead he went the extra mile to get the 5 thread "that can even be used in quilting." If I didn't know DH better, I'd think we were close to getting a new male quilter on this board.

Bubblegum0077 02-09-2011 06:27 PM

Oh wow, congrats on the new machine. Sounds like it will be used a lot. At least you will get your money's worth from it. Glad your DH supports your sewing and quilting. Happy sewing and don't forget to make DH something special.

Kris 2011 02-09-2011 08:07 PM

Only thing better than this would be a long arm and DH would have to buy me a house to go with it. As much as I want one I know it just isn't possible. I would have to set it up in the living room area.

Congrats on your gift froj.

CarrieAnne 02-09-2011 08:10 PM

Congrats on your gift froj.

Last year Christmas he got me a Janome Embroidery machine and the Janome 6500. Our girls each have a Janome Quilter's Companion machine as well but a longarm would take up my sewing room. Maybe one day, when our young daughters are grown and we no longer need a toy room or a school room, but for now, I have access to a LA when needed. I told DH that when the kids are grown, I'm tearing down the wall between the schoolroom and the toy room and making the perfect sewing room. That will be the day. :D

If he does we'll welcome him with open arms but you may have to share the new serger...   or he may buy you a new machine too
