the difference between accuquilt go and the accuquilt go baby

Hello Everybody,
Been a long time since i posted but i am still reading posts. I am thinking of getting an accuquilt. i just need to know the difference between the big and small one....i am wondering what is the biggest block you can do for each of them. so far i know there is some dies you can not use for the baby go but thats all i know. THanks for any tips. I did do a search before asking but was uable to find a thread with my question.

the size and the amount of dies you can use..

You can make any block any size you can imagine.. Accuquilt site has up to 12 inch blocks i think... they have a neat spreadsheet that tell you what dies you need to make a specific block....

I have the GO- wish I had the money and space for the Studio but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my go.. I use it alll the time... There is little to no waste once you figure out the tips- and the time saved by using the GO out weights the little fabric waste in my eyes..

FYI- buy extra mats, when on sale pick them up.. I am hard on my mats and I go thru them alot and quickly. Some will say they have had theirs for years but I use my go a LOT... I dont go two days without pulling the Go out and cutting scraps..

My fav dies are the Tumblers ( bigger one, but love the lil one too), bricks, 2x2 and the rag dies..

GO is larger - has a wider cutting area that GO Baby...and size, weight of cutter is different. As far as how big a block can one make using components cut with any of these......as large as you want....remember these cutters cut pieces as you would with a rotary cutter. The difference being this cuts the whole piece i.e., triangle, at one time not in several cuts as with a rotary cutter. There are groups on Yahoo that are dedicated to die cutters and they would be able to direct/answer most of your questions.

I have the Accu Go...I think the Accu Baby is mostly for people who do applique and smaller designs. I wish I had the Studio but I don't have the room, the Accu Go regular does everything I need it to do. I cut a lot of my bias bindings with the strip cutters, I can put a quilt together in nothing flat, usually with the tumbler die, it has saved me months of frustration and paid for itself many times over in the fact that I can shoot out a quilt in 1/2 the time! It gives me time to play too, for example, I just made a quilted sweatshirt jacket and I just cut pieces and played with them by laying them on the sweatshirt and then did a quilt as you go technique. I would have never tried this without Accu Go. Just my .02.

If you are really going to use it, and to do that you must be prepared to put some money into dies...buy the regular Accu Go will make some mighty big blocks. You can do drunkard's Path, Double Wedding Ring, strips, I have not found anything I wanted to do that it would not do....if you have the room and a business...(I have a business but no room) the Studio would be the way to go. Remember, it is not the size of the die, but the size of the block is determined by how many pieces are sewn together. You can use one die, and make an entire quilt, such as the tumbler block. Hope this helps.

I have the Go! and if I remember correctly, you can't use the strip dies with the Baby. I love the strip dies.

Not all of the dies, particularly the strip dies, will work on the GO! Baby. But there is a strip die that came out specifically for the GO! Baby and many applique' dies work well on the GO! Baby. Size, price are the main differences between the two products. The AccuQuilt website shows all the dies and each is tagged to show if it works on the GO! Baby. Visit the AccuQuilt Christmas theme blog hop this week for tutorials, tips, inspiration and giveaways too.

From what I've heard you can do more layers on the go than the baby. I'm sure there are limitations on the size just like there would be the go verses the large one. I love my go. I use the raq die the most. I buy lots of flannel when it's on sale; make up a bunch of blocks and then store them in a container and then when at the last minute when I need a quilt/gift I pull out the blocks and design the quilt and it's done in a matter of a couple of hours if that. The time saved not having to snip all of those edges by itself makes it worth it. I would love to have th larger one but no space even when it's on sale. Check their websites to compare
