I download quilting magazines to my IPad . Love it for I can take my magazines with me to Drs appointments and such. Plus I don't have storage issues with all the magazines.
I download books too. Less hassle.

I have Quiltmaker as digital. It's not very user friendly. I won't get it again as digital. Fons and Porter is nice digital and has interactive content. These two digitals it's very hard to find the darn website that gives you the digital website. It's seems to be buried and takes me forever to remember where to look. Quilter's World is the best digital, easy to navigate and print out any pattern you want.

I don't download and read books as I ONLY listen to books in audio format
on my iPod (classic).

But I love magazines in digital format.

Although I getting HIGHLY upset with McCall's Quick Quilts digital. I purchased
a subscription in Dec. and I still can not access it. I have sent 3 emails about
this issue and have not received a response to any of them. Tomorrow I call
and they WON'T like me after I get done.

I am hoping the 2 NEW magazines that came out recently will become available
in digital format. They are "Quilt-it...Today" and "Sew-it...Today" these magazines
are ONLY $3.99 newsstand price each. MUCH cheaper than any of the other mags
in print. But you can get a subscription for about $13.00 (give or take). It is chock
full of good stuff also.

So far I only have a nook that my youngest son bought for me used (it is one of the original ones) and is only black and white, so I have only downloaded books to it (mostly free ones). Most books I only read once, then pass them on, so I am ok with doing them digitally. Many times I like to go through my quilting magazines, and love to sit on the couch and browse through the pictures...I can't see doing that digitally...love the turning of the pages, going back to look through again to see my favorites, etc. Maybe if I had a different type of reader...but not in my budget at this time. I only get 1 magazine by subscription anyway.

I have 2 digital subscriptions and really like them. I read them on my laptop. Here, outside the US, it makes good sense to get the digital versions. If I buy a copy at my local magazine store, it costs the equivalent of a whole digital 1-year subscription...what with postage, import taxes, etc. An added plus is of course that they don't take up any space in my already very small house. If I want a paper copy of something, I just print it out.

Lesson learned...buy digital magazines thru Zinio directly. They are the ones who set up the digital delivery.

Guess I'm from the "can't teach a old dog new tricks" school. Carrying around a little lighted square to read from really isn't my idea of reading. But for those that enjoy it, go for it:)

Quilty, If you are having trouble with the link for McCalls Quick quilts try this: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/newtrack/qq_20130203/ you put in your user name and password to open the magazine. Seems the magazines all use the same nxtbook program.

That's what my DH insisted why he would never want a Kindle or Nook. I bough him one anyway and now his Kindle goes where he goes. He loves it. You have to try to know.
