Digitizing embroidery

I just bought a Janome embroidery machine MC350E. I'm really enjoying it. I would love to be able to digitize my yorkie photos into embroidery designs for a quilt. Is it difficult to do this and how pricey is the software.

If you have EQ7, you can add the EQStitch embroidery module. That might be the least expensive way to go.

Does EQStitch really do digitizing?

Embird has a photo digitizing add-on which might be a possibility. I've seen cool results from this software. And the embroidery style is a bit "quilty".

Embird used to be good value for money IMHO. Don't know how it competes today.

In my opinion, it is much cheaper and easier to have your photos digitized professionally than to spend what it costs for the software and the time it takes. There are many places online that will do this for you and they are not very expensive.

That is what I was thinking unless you really want to get into it. There is a lot of time and energy invested in a couple of pictures unless it is hobby you want to learn anyway.

I have used Stitch Era Universal by Sierra software. It is a free digitizing program and can be downloaded. It was fairly easy for me to use, but it does take some getting used to.

I have the software to digitize and it is not easy to do.

I have Embird and love this program, but note that it does take time to learn to digitize...I found that I get quite frustrated...I'm such a visual learner...so do spend a lot of time on youtube and online at embird site to learn...haven't mastered it yet...but I will lol
