Grrr I am so annoyed. I ordered 3 metres of this fabric from an online store. I chose it after ALOT of searching for something that was suitable for Christmas, but could be used year round (ie Xmas colours but not snowmen or xmas tree patterns type thing). It is for making placemats for all my friends for Xmas presents. The store just emailed me to say that they have none in stock and will not be getting any more in. Grrr. I can't find anything similar that is not really expensive. At £5 a metre this was rather reasonable. Grrr. At least they told me promptly, and they have refunded my money. I guess I will have to wait until the Festival of Quilts in August to see what I can get.

On a brighter note, I got a squishy two days ago with 2m of the flannel for the back of Jake's denim quilt, see pic below! It's lush!

Sorry about the star material, that really sucks!
But I love the other, so cute!!! :D
Maybe when the rest of the world wakes up, someone on here will know where to find some of the Stars!

That's cute stuff!
Sucks you can't get it from that place. Sure hope you can find it elsewhere!

Thanks Katrine and Kathryn, those links are really helpful. It makes me wince when I see fabric priced at over £5 for HALF a metre! Eeek. I have so little cash left after paying all my bills, it seems so much to pay. Maybe I should buy a metre a month, then it won't seem as though I'm spending that much!

Do you guys get fabric in France, how are the prices there? Or do you order from UK?

Fabric in France is around 16 - 20 euros per metre! I order mostly from the UK and sometimes even from the States - even with shipping it's cheaper. I've no idea why I can buy for example, a Robert Kauffman print for 9 USD per yard and have it shipped from the States for a few dollars BUT the same fabric in a shop here is 20 euros (about 28USD) per metre - presumably the shop can get better rates than me so their mark up must be horrendous! Social charges for self-employed here are quite high, but even so! DH says it's because there's no market here for fabric - but they'll never GET a market at those prices!

I order mostly from the UK - Cotton Patch, Tabby Cat and Lady Sew and Sew. Any other tips for good sites, much appreciated! :D

Cotton Patch is my LQS! I say local, but as it is on the other side of B'ham from me it still takes 45 mins to drive. It is a lovely store though, I love to visit.

I went there for the first time back in April - we were staying in Stow so about 45 mins the other side; when I went in the door, I just stood there a while and breathed in the atmosphere! I bought the Grace Hoop and stand from them, among other things! Met Geoff and some of the girls - everyone there is so knowledgeable and helpful - in fact Geoff was so 'helpful' he talked me into a silver plated Roxanne's thimble! :D But he was right - I love it! There's nothing to beat shopping in 'the flesh' so to speak.
