I like the candy mints that come in a metal tin. I've found that the little tin with the snap-close lid is perfect for disposing of used sewing machine needles and bent/dull pins. I wrapped a piece of tape around the tin that says "Sharp-Used Needles" so nobody accidentally spills it. It fits in a small area and I don't need to worry about pins/needles poking through my plastic trash bags.

I use one of those too... and I have a prescription bottle that I keep in my EPP box. :D:D:D

I put mine inside tin cans in my trash bin. I don't cut the tops completely off, so with the lid pushed back the chances of them falling out are small. There's usually plenty of other stuff in my trash to keep them from poking out!! :-)
I use empty pill bottles
Empty piill bottles seem to abuond in our house at the moment so that's what I use. The tin mint cans are the right size for a healthy serving of almonds! Ya don't wanna get those mixed up!:0)

I use empty film containers, I have one that is labeled Old Needles and I place all of them in there and when it gets full I will pitch them.
Where do you pitch them? recycle?
I like all these ideas! Thanks!

I use the smallest Diet Coke bottle. My dr. told me to use a pop bottle for my diabetic needles and testing supplies when I had gestational diabetis so I just continued using them for my sewing.
I use a plastic film container.

I use one of the plastic boxes that the pins originally came in. When it's full I tape it closed.
I put old needles in pill bottles. I wrap old rotary blades with duct tape.
I use an oud pill bottle with a label that says "Dead Needles" on it. I put used rotary blades between to pieces of cardboard and tape it.
I wrap mine in a small piece of duct tape and put it in the trash. I don't go through many needles so this is just easier.
I use a butter/margarine container. I've poked a small hole in the top so I can put needles in it easily. My old rotary blades also are disposed of in the same container. It's big enough that it lasts a long time, and always has a lid on it. I don't have to spend time taping rotary blades to cardboard.
I use a Pimento jar.
I right "Bad" on my blades with a Sharpie and just put them back in the case under the good ones. I put a round piece of colored template between the bad's and the goods.
I use the plastic containers that Extra gum comes in!
I use old pill bottles too!
Those are all great ideas. I learn so much here.
I use pill bottles and since I also use razor blades to rip, I put those in there as well. I save my rotary blade containers and use it to discard those.
I also use pill bottle except I put a small hole in top of lid so I push old needles in but they don't fall out and I never have to open the container

I once stepped on a needle and needed my roommate to pull it out with pliers, I found the perfect solution. I bought a bulk serving container of equal (the container is plastic and looks like an old fashioned sugar dispenser), it the perfect sharps container. It has 2 flaps with snap covers one small hole that needles can be dropped in and one designed for a spoon that I can drop used rotary cutting blades into, when its full snap the covers closed and throw it away.
I put my rotary blades and bad needles in pins in my sharps container that I use for diabetic syringes.
Old coffee can for blades, old mint tins for needles.
Ohhhh, such good ideas! My husband is diabetic. Of course - I can use his sharps container!
I sew a lot; therefore, use a lot of needles. I was advised that if a trash hauler gets pricked by any kind of needle, they can refuse to pick up your trash in the future! I use old pill bottles, plastic boxes new pins come in, a large vitamin bottle, anything I can seal with duct tape and dispose of the in trash safely. For those who 'don't go through many needles', are you sure you're changing your needle often enough? A change after 8 hours of use, or after every project, is a good rule of thumb. Needles slightly bent or with burrs can do damage to your machine.
I wrap a ton of tape around the tips and then dump into the trash. I dont' want anyone getting poked!
I use a pill bottle and put a tiny hole in the cap. This was I just insert the used/damaged needles into it. When used up I just duct tape around the cap and dispose of it.
I use empty RX pill bottles.
I found that old Tic Tac boxes are perfect. Just flip the top, drop in the old needle, and close. I mark it in black magic marker OLD NEEDLES and it fits in near my machine very well. Whatever works!
Our county health department will provide a 'sharps' container (like the hospitals and doctors' offices use for needles) and then dispose of the container and contents when full. The large container will hold rotary blades as well. Makes me feel much better to dispose of them this way.
I use an empty pill bottle, too.
I use mechanical pencils and purchase extra lead. The little plastic tubes that the lead comes in makes great containers for old needles. When they are full I do put tape on the lid top to make sure it doesn't come off.
I used my old needles to hang pictures. They make such very small holes in the wall and are extremely sturdy. I store the old ones I don't need in a pill bottle in my tool chest.
Don't mean to change the subject but what do you do with old rotary blades?
Sharps container at work, works for rotary blades too.
A Pringles can works well too.
