does anyone have written instructions for the divided 9 patch not pictures

If I'm correct, I think you want the Disappearing 9 patch. To make it just make a standard 9 patch (usually 2 to 4 inch blocks) and cut it in half both ways. That gives you 4 blocks to arrange as you like.

You really don't need a pattern for the DP9. There are a bunch of examples on the board. Some really interesting designs. Have fun. They are so easy to make I use them for the backing when I am a bit short of fabric.

Search the tutorials...they are there and they have written + pictorial instructions. Also google for free instructions. I have made a couple Disappearing 9 patch quilts. They're outrageious!
