Do you clip your curves?

I was just wondering if anybody still clips their curves to make them lay flatter. Since I hand piece mine, they lay pretty flat with out clipping. sewing on the machine is a little different. I usually clip a few of them when I machine piece. My old Home Ec teacher would roll over in her grave if she knew I don't always clip. She was a "by the book" old gal. So glad she was my teacher.

I usually try to clip my curves.

I always clip my curves. That is how I learned it in Home Ec too!

I use my pinking shears to clip the curves and that way every thing lays down quite nicely.

I clip my curves. I was taught that several years ago and I love the flat look and it is so much easier to work with. The amount of clips depends a lot on the fabric and how it lays.

My Aunt Lydia would be rolling right along with your Home Ec teacher if I didn't clip curves. But the pinking idea is cool, because it remove bulk. QuiltNama, do you live in Souptown?

Our Home Ec teachers were teaching us when we were using 5/8th seams for clothing (sometimes trimmed down). So with such a 'large' seam it was needed to clip. But now, IMHO, it depends. ;)

Yes, I clip them. I think they lay flatter with less bulk.

With narrower seams, I do not clip. If the seam is wider (as in home dec sewing) I trim the seam. I would hate to have sun shine on a window covering and see the clips in the seam.

Sometimes it depends on the curve, a gentle curve , I might not clip. It also depends on the fabric. A looser weave will relax at the curve.
I do caution that a curve that has been steamed into submission ... when washed may no longer submit to laying flat.
